The Soles for the Soul Sneaker Art Exhibition opens at Bondi’s Beach Road Hotel [Sydney] on November 23 and features ’sixty shoes, twenty artists, one cause and a whole lot of soul. Up and coming local artists from backgrounds as diverse as blacksmithing, tattooing, printmaking, photography, design, and illustration will display their designs on sneakers supplied by home grown label Gideon Shoes‘. In addition to this, internationally renowned designers Vince Frost [whose work is featured above] and Murray Bell are donating a series of personally designed shoes. Artworks will be available for purchase through a silent auction and all proceeds from the event will be donated to The Surfrider Foundation. There’s more information at the Soles for Souls website.

Crimea X is the coming together of two offbeat, disparate characters, DJ Rocca (Ajello, Super Sonic Lovers, Maffia Sound System) and Jukka Reverberi from 90s Italian glam cult rockers, Giardini di Mirò, who have often have been compared with the sound of Mogwai, Arab Strap, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. We asked them about their favourite music and they started with The Smiths song, Ask [listen below] ‘I saw them playing live on Italian TV. Very few band reunions get me excited, but I’ve consistently loved Faith No More since I was 13. I loved their pre-Mike Patton era, I loved King for a Day, and I even loved their track with Boo Yah Tribe on the Judgment Night soundtrack.
