Wow, someone with a more extreme name than mine. And her photography is simply awesome too. In her own words Polish born Eva Brzozowska is inspired by ‘women and their world, their dreams and hopes, my home city [Warsaw], old pre-war films and my imagination. I’ve been photographing since December 2003 and I don’t believe that I’ve developed my own style in photography yet — I’m still a learner. I use a Pentacon Six most of the time [6x6 film]. I enjoy the artistic look and feel of medium format that I am unable to reproduce using other formats. I also use a Canon Eos 50 and several digital cameras from time to time. I tend to rely on available light whenever I can. There are two thoughts that influence the way I try to photograph . Firstly, you need to “learn everything they can, and then forget it allâ€. This is the best advice for someone struggling to create something fresh and new. Second thought are the words of Robert Doisneau: “If you make pictures, don’t speak, don’t write, don’t analyze yourself and don’t answer any questions.” This is when words end and true photography begins’. Crimea X is the coming together of two offbeat, disparate characters, DJ Rocca (Ajello, Super Sonic Lovers, Maffia Sound System) and Jukka Reverberi from 90s Italian glam cult rockers, Giardini di Mirò, who have often have been compared with the sound of Mogwai, Arab Strap, and Godspeed You! The futuristic architecture that charcterises its evolution is pushing the boundaries of design, the buildings climbing ever upwards with their blindingly original facades. Apparently Dubai is home to between 15 and 25 percent of the world’s 125,000 construction cranes, which is hardly surprising. Woohoo! Another flash game that actually tests your cognitive abilities. LightBot is a difficult, but satisfying game in which you direct a little robot using a system of simple commands in order to light up various squares on a grid. The first few levels guide you through the seemingly easy process, but when there are multiple sets of directions requiring you to write what are essentially codes, it can get pretty hairy.

Major Stars are another throwback ’70s rock band, playing Sabbath-flavored, guitar-driven psych tunes. But what sets them apart from the horde of Zeppelin-worshipping clones is vocalist Sandra Clarkson, whose voice is clean and feminine, but loud and aggressive — she doesn’t try to affect a Janis Joplin rasp. The band’s music also skews heavily towards the Acid Mothers Temple end of the ’70s revival thing rather than the Wolfmother side, another plus. Nope, rock still isn’t dead.
