Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I feel almost guilty in making this statement. Indeed, I sense that there is a tinge of ungratefulness in my tone. But it is not intended as such. Rather it is an acknowledgement that behind every blessing, behind every formidable bestowment, there is a hint of danger, a backhand of callous wit. For I have stumbled upon a great thing – a truly monumental gift – and it comes in the shape of a small glass bottle. It is unobtrusive and unbecoming, yet its effect equates to a lifetime of unbridled lust. Oh, the inhumanity as I hold before you, in these trembling hands, Exhibit A. Paul Smith Extreme, a fragrance that wafts through the air with all the pomp and ceremony of a sweet smelling curse. And what a curse it is. I have been stopped in the streets; I have been mobbed in nightclubs; I have been sniffed like a Brazilian drug baron and prodded like a Guatemalan worry doll. I have been hounded out of some towns and hounded into others. And having seen the light, I can assure you that it radiates like a primary coloured rainbow. Yes, somewhere amongst the notes of Bergamot, Rosemary, Hesperidia, Nutmeg and Cardamom, they’ve added a mighty heaping of pheromones. And with good cause too. Us blokes can always do with a bit of extra help. But a word of warning from a habitual user: apply it sparingly. It just makes more scents. [illustrations by Dethpsun]

Star Wars Uncut: a fully crowdsourced version of Episode IV
The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.
Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

well, if you’re looking for unsuspecting hunk to spray it on … not naming any names or anything … or even admitting to the hunk part, but … ok, enough now.

Feeling a little grimy after a long night out? No problem; just jump in the shower and reach for another beer. Not the drinkable kind, of course – the sudsy kind. Something like Brooklyn Brewery’s Beer Soap, which lathers up beautifully (from what we hear) and which is actually made from the brewery’s own beers. Read more

How many times can we play the same song in different settings? Hmmm, I don’t know. But it is a hell of a song, from a hell of a band, as that uniquely English oddity, Jules Holland would no doubt concur.

Just check her work out for yourself’. Read more
A broken snare drum rolling gently over a scratchy acoustic guitar; a deep lyrical catharsis smothering a melody which is predictable but endearing. Your Rocky Spine by Great Lake Swimmers is a magical song; all wrapped up in three and half minutes of lustful introspection.
It’s hard not to sigh at another vector face or skull and diamond combo. I’m guilty of skull overindulgence myself. But Six Letter Word — aka illustrator, Diogo Potes — balances skulls with other macabre themes to create art that actually looks fresh and interesting. Read more

LOL…love the way you write, very articulate, eloquent and poetic with a generous dose of humour (or is it just the way I read it?!). Am a big fan of Paul Smith for both sexes and shall probably get this scent as an xmas gift to liberally splash all over some unsuspecting spunky hunk (the lucky swine!) for my own nasal indulgences, so thank you for the recommendation!
