We love underground Melbourne fashion label, Rest In Peace (RIP). The three lads behind it are doing some amazing clothing designs, many of which play on the visual twist afforded by the name of the brand. The t-shirts in particular are very cool and have already found their own little niche in the Australian market. The genesis of the label was simple: ‘The first book of the Old Testament tells of creation; Adam and Eve; the Fall of Man; Cain and Abel; Noah and the flood; God’s covenant with Abraham; Jacob and Esau; Joseph and his brothers. Now you have Rest In Peace, created not by Mathew, Mark, Luke and John, but Patrick, Mark and Tom. It’s The Third Coming!’ And the clothing itself? ‘It’s a hybrid product that offers the best of both worlds. We incorporate many other elements of design into Rest In Peace so it evolves beyond just fashion’. We have five Rest In Peace t-shirts to give away to random Lost At E Minor subscribers who either forward this posting onto at least six of their friends or leave a comment under this posting outlining another potential fashion related meaning for the abbreviation RIP. Winners announced on September 27th. Watch this space. [see also Sumakhi dress giveaway]

Star Wars Uncut: a fully crowdsourced version of Episode IV
The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.
Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

What a great looking t. One I could definately wear at the dinner table this christmas. The conversation would go as such,
“Ben, pass the turkey please, and my! What an exquisit shirt! What is that panties around the ankels?”
“Why yes mother” I would reply, “its 100% cotton”
“The panties too?” She would ask…
“Yes, the panties too, however its ‘screened’ on so it is merely just a representation of the actual, corporeal thing that is the panties.”
“Ah, now I understand Benjamin, now pass me the turkey like a good boy.”
“With pleasrue mother.”
I’d love to see RIP come across the ocean to Canada… i’d make a great “rip rep”

This entertaining documentary follows a group of seemingly clichéd American teenagers in their last year of high school. Through a comprehensive recording of their lives it reminds us that, when examining anything in detail, there is no such thing as a cliché. The naivety and hope of each student shines through, providing a memorable and accurate portrait of a middle-American high school. Read more

Google recently demonstrated their ability to predict flu outbreaks across America weeks in advance of the outbreaks themselves. It would seem that they are more than just a pretty search engine. And as if that wasn’t enough, they’ve now teamed up with Life Magazine, what was the cornerstone of photojournalism for the Twentieth Century, to digitize 95 per cent of their image bank that never saw the light of day. Now millions of photos stretching from the 1750s to the present day are available on Google Images at the click of a button. Read more
