Hungry like the wolf
So I’ve been in New York for three weeks now and the sheen hasn’t worn off at all. I love walking through Manhattan. There’s something invigorating about the culture clash that radiates throughout the city – the striking contrast between the traditional and the progressive; the hustle and energy of the streets which seems far removed – yet somehow perfectly in time – with the stillness of the megastructures that dominate the skyline. And if the sheen starts to fade even slightly, all I need to do is get back onto Fifth Avenue and walk up to Central Park. There’s a little spot that I’ve found there where you can look back at the city – at the stunning architecture and the muted colours, framed as it is by this green oasis so apparently misplaced – and be completely overwhelmed by the scale of what lies in front you. The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.
Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

FFFFOUND! is a fun website that allows you to bookmark your favorite images from the Internet and share them with fellow users, sort of like a del.icio.us specifically for pictures. The site is still in private beta and not currently supported on Mac, but as its collection of images expands, it’s likely to become much more widely available.
Now this is fun. The aptly named The Kooks cover the equally as aptly named MGMT for Australian radio network, Triple J. The song, Kids, is about as upbeat as any minor key progression can get. We like.
