The infinite album
Ok, this one comes straight from the source: ‘Beck is readying a new album that aims to reinvent the entire concept. His next as-yet untitled album will be a cycle of songs, remixes and videos that fans can string together any way they want. Wired calls the new project The Infinite Album and suggests that this may be the future of a format badly in need of a makeover. ‘In an ideal world, I’d find a way to let people truly interact with the records I put out, not just remix the songs, but maybe play them like a video game’. Another idea he’s toying with is moving graphics that pop up on your computer when you play different songs from the album. And finally, instead of producing expensive music videos, the artist filmed a series of low-budget videos with various family members. They are planning on posting the videos on sites like YouTube once the album comes out’. Nice one. [see also The Avalanches]

Crimea X is the coming together of two offbeat, disparate characters, DJ Rocca (Ajello, Super Sonic Lovers, Maffia Sound System) and Jukka Reverberi from 90s Italian glam cult rockers, Giardini di Mirò, who have often have been compared with the sound of Mogwai, Arab Strap, and Godspeed You! Ok, so I’m wearing this sweater right now. How could I not. The damn thing shares the same name as me. Well, kinda. My parents threw in an ‘o’ into my name just to confuse the life out of people. But that’s a whole another story. The Zoltan is comfortable, soft, and colorful. It has ‘no fortune-telling capabilities’, but the ‘lightweight progressive color stripe scheme has an undeniably funky 70s vibe’. And it does. Yeeha. Now, where the hell is my bell bottoms and Grateful Dead vinyl?
Ok, some random news and observations about this thriving, jiving metropolis that is New York City. 1. There are that many tattoos around Williamsburg, Brooklyn that I reckon I’m making more of a statement by not having one! Seriously. We love sex in art. No, not in a smutty Benny Hill kinda way, but rather the way in which Australian-based website Sex In Art takes a healthy peek at all things arty and well … sexual. There’s some beautiful illustration work up there and some evocative photography. Heck, I’m getting a little hot under the collar just writing about it. While most of the work they feature is work friendly, some of it isn’t. Still, it’s worth more than a casual glance, like this painting by Chinese artist, Guan Zeju.

i love beck and am glad guero has put him back in rythym. from what i’ve seen and heard of the infinite, it’s going to be another great beck album, I can’t wait. especially if that means he’ll come back around here on tour again!
