Our web DNA
The guys at Baekdal have an interesting way of representing a website’s structure – as human DNA. The ‘DNA’ of the Lost At E Minor website is shown above. The more important the HTML tags, the brighter the lines. And as they say: ‘A site that focuses on text is one where the DNA patterns are large but contain a lot of empty spaces between the lines (empty space is individual words)’. I’m not really sure what this all means. But it looks kinda cool.

There’s something magic about being in the same space as those performing at the very height of their field. The Australian Chamber Orchestra have just kicked off their Great Romantics national tour and it was a treat to see them live in Newcastle, Australia for their first show. I’m no chamber orchestra aficionado, but I know good music when I hear it. And the tones played by lead violinist Richard Tognetti are as sweet as you could hope to hear. Can’t hurt having a 1743 Guarneri del Gesù violin under the chin. A tour worth checking out.

Illustrator and artist John Malloy has been working on a graphic novel called Channel One and, without wanting to sound too much like Paris Hilton, it’s looking pretty damn hot. Update! With Lungfish guitarist Asa Osborne’s latest project, Zomes, he continues to explore loops and cycles with endlessly repeating musical phrases, this time played on circuit-bent keyboards. The resulting tracks sound at times like medieval court music at others like the soundtrack to a Hal Hartley movie.
