Noumeda was born in Paris to an Indian-French mother and an Italian father. She now lives and works in Florence, Italy. ‘I attended the Diploma of Istituto d’Arte di Firenze on Arti Grafiche with a specialization in illustration and engraving. I’ve studied a variety of fields - from video to photography and contemporary dance – and I’ve collaborated with an active independent group of artists - dancers, videomakers, musicians, and digital artists. I work with pencil, ink, watercolour, photographs, gold pigment, and sometimes I mix hand drawing with computer technique. I like errors, the small surprises between lines’. [see also Violet Banks]

Pietari Posti was born in Helsinki, Finland. As his website states, ‘when other kids were asking him to play, he preferred to stay in and draw. Later they stopped asking. Nowadays he spends his days and nights illustrating both the traditional way and by computer, and more often using both’. He works as a freelance illustrator and is based in Barcelona. Australian singer/songwriter, Jen Cloher, selects some of her favourite songs: ‘1. 7/4 - Broken Social Scene. About as perfect as a pop tune can get with the best vocals I’ve heard in years. 2. This Life - Martha Wainwright. ‘It’s a little country song, it’s in my head’ – Martha sums it up best. 3. I Know I Know I Know – Tegan and Sara. These twin sisters write some of the most infectious pop tunes around. This album confirms why Neil Young signed them to his label for the long term. 4. Come on Feel the Illinoise – Sufjan Stevens. I don’t use the term genius lightly. He even fits a brass and woodwind tribute to The Cure’s ‘Close to You’ into this song. Incredible. 5. Rollercoaster – Sleater Kinney. The title says it all’. Massimiliano Panzironi is a freelance illustrator based in Rome. His work is beautifully arranged, using splashes of bold colour to break up the strong black lines. ‘Since I was a child I was charmed by creating shapes and drawing using different colours and materials. I studied architecture and industrial design, but as time went by I was fascinated by the world of illustration and graphic design. My source of inspiration is represented mostly by everyday life: what you read in the newspaper, people you meet on the underground, as well as my experiences during my travels across Europe and Asia. DolceQ is my personal project born as my online portfolio on the seductive and sexy world of women, where I attempt to catch the most hidden and bewitching impulses of their universe’. Melbourne-based photographer Cyril De La Torre studied at Madrid’s Centre of Visual Studies where he developed his interest in architecture and landscape. Says Design Taxi about his work: ‘Integral within all of Cyril’s beautiful and elegant photographs is the notion of movement. From the obvious depiction of trails left in the sky from a travelling plane, to those left by a burning cigarette, it is clear that life has been captured as it continues around him. Similarly … the sense of documenting the passing of time rather than capturing a frozen moment helps to create a sense of spectator benevolence rather than voyeurism’. And so it does. Ok, this one comes straight from the source: ‘Beck is readying a new album that aims to reinvent the entire concept. His next as-yet untitled album will be a cycle of songs, remixes and videos that fans can string together any way they want. Wired calls the new project The Infinite Album and suggests that this may be the future of a format badly in need of a makeover. ‘In an ideal world, I’d find a way to let people truly interact with the records I put out, not just remix the songs, but maybe play them like a video game’. Another idea he’s toying with is moving graphics that pop up on your computer when you play different songs from the album. And finally, instead of producing expensive music videos, the artist filmed a series of low-budget videos with various family members. They are planning on posting the videos on sites like YouTube once the album comes out’. Nice one. [see also The Avalanches]
