In the fading hours of the evening light, as a southerly blows incessantly outside my windows and the sanctity of my surrounds is threatened only by the faintest slither of the outside world, I’ll admit to it all. Yes, every last shameful detail. For I, since the age of eight, have had a crush on Olivia Newton-John. That’s right. Our Livi. A blonde wisp of a thing with a 60-watt smile and a voice as smooth and comforting as a heaped tablespoon of maple syrup. A true Aussie icon and all-round nice girl. Oh, how she teased and tempted in Grease, with her airbrushed hair and saccharine sweet demeanor. Danny Zucco I curse you for coming between me and my date with destiny. Alberto Rojas Newton creates complex photographs using loads of texture and varied colour. He grew up in Colombia, has lived in Paris, and now is based in London, where he is quickly positioning himself as one of photography’s real emerging talents.
A culmination of nearly four years of writing and recording, Omaha quintet, The Faint are preparing to release their fifth album, Fasciinatiion, on August 5 on the band’s own newly-formed label, blank.wav. Working without any time constraints, the songs went through many recorded incarnations before finding their final forms. The result is the best album in the band’s career, a record that is the purest culmination of The Faint’s brilliant musical instincts, ideas and aesthetic, with each member contributing equally to its creation.

On those rare occasions when I feel the need to treat myself to an absolutely mind (and wallet) blowing meal, I love to come here. The restaurant is housed in an old diner (the old trailer style diners) which makes for some fun ambiance. Plus, the menu changes every week, so there’s never a written menu. The waiter comes out with a pen and writes the entire menu down on the butcher paper covering your table. Aside from all that, the food is absolutely unbelievable!
Peter Nalitch is Russia’s answer to Manu Chao. His video for the song Guitar is a Borat-like jab at low-budget, post-Soviet awkwardness — absurd English lyrics, Eurotrash earnestness, bad wipes, and cheap subtitles. But its tongue-in-cheekness is quite apparent, and the song is disarmingly catchy and romantic.
Designed by Andrea Corson, the Caviars Round Top Ring, is made from sterling silver. The Caviars sparkle like diamonds, sitting upon an organic band. We have it for sale in the Lost At E Minor online store.
