The debut album from Australian singer-songwriter Jack Ladder is full of arching melodies which wander off on tangents only to return again under the full weight of a series of timeless chorus structures. Ladder’s great strength lies in his capacity to conjure complex melodic lines out of well-worn progressions. This is an album full of slow-builders, all of which utilize simple acoustic riffs to carry the somewhat melancholic tone. It’s very beautiful; and just left-of-centre enough to embed itself inside your head then play strange games with your ability to whistle a tune. Not Worth Waiting For is disarmingly honest, in keeping with Ladder’s lyrical capacity to strip himself bare with each new song (and there’s 22 of them on this album), metaphorically speaking of course. Though stranger things have happened in the recording studio. The project of creative technologist, Casey Pugh, this full length version of the George Lucas masterpiece was created from multiple 15 second segments recreated from the original movie and submitted by thousands of Star Wars fans, which were then spliced together by editor Aaron Valdez to form the final product. Genius, as both a commentary on contemporary pop culture trends (there are references to LEGO, stop motion, memes and the like) and on the power of tapping your audience for quality material.
Filmmaker creates LEGO stop motion to propose to girlfriend
Now, this is one for the ages: back in 2010, Atlanta film-maker Walter Thompson created a jaw-dropping LEGO stop motion to propose to Nealey Dozier, his girlfriend of four years. The video took 22 hours of shooting and some 2,600 pictures to splice together, a small sacrifice to pay for years of happiness together. Right? Right! Oh, and she said yes. Bonus.

Dimly lit, and intimately laid out, Marlowe & Sons offers a low-key vibe, with a great selections of cheeses and meats, as well as a limited dinner selection. It’s a great place to head to when all you want is to unwind from the frenzy of Manhattan. Consider this your first tasty rest stop in Brooklyn.
FFFFOUND! is a fun website that allows you to bookmark your favorite images from the Internet and share them with fellow users, sort of like a del.icio.us specifically for pictures. The site is still in private beta and not currently supported on Mac, but as its collection of images expands, it’s likely to become much more widely available.
Despite their jarring name, British noise duo Fuck Buttons are surprisingly palatable. The band’s long, droning tracks are infused with sweet twinkles and sunny synth, but dark shards of ominous guitar overdrive and distorted screeches pierce the shimmering surface just when you’re ready to zone out. Danceable beats occasionally draw everything back together, creating a stormy, pulsing, and disorienting atmosphere.
If zombies had no teeth, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to have our body parts in their mouths. These plush zombie slippers simulate that very experience.
